Arts, heritage and cultural activities are powerful tools that have the power to unite communities and celebrate all that makes Western Australia great.
Aboriginal Tourism Western Australian’s (ATWA) vision, through Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council (WAITOC), is to empower, promote and support Aboriginal entrepreneurship in tourism businesses, which aligns with Lotterywest’s vision of a hopeful, healthy, connected and sustainable community life for all Western Australians.
Lotterywest’s 90-year journey includes supporting ideas that benefit Aboriginal people and communities, promoting culture, and building thriving futures. This support encompasses a $1.5 million grant to WAITOC, towards three-years of support to auspice ATWA.
This grant is empowering ATWA to build programs for Aboriginal-led tourism and cultural experiences, including strengthening digital access and skills development.
Lotterywest’s funding is helping create and expand connected cultural experiences, deliver socio-economic benefits, and strengthen intergenerational cultural knowledge exchange.
The grant contributes to staff and administration costs to enable ATWA to expand regional Business Hubs training and mentorship services into five new regions and also develop and digitise the Aboriginal Tourism Academy Program.

Lotterywest is the only State Government owned and operated lottery in Australia, committed to serving the community of Western Australia through grants that benefit diverse communities across the State.
