rae-wendy creations

Rachael Cooyou, Payungu Elder, Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Artist, and owner/operator of rae-wendy creations. RWC has been in operation since 2019, however Rachael’s love for the arts, sewing and creating her ‘wearable art’ has been a passion that dates to when she was 9 years of age. It is her goal to expand her business by networking, reducing costs, utilize social media and most importantly show the opportunities available to First Nations people.

Before joining the FNTMP and WAITOC, Rachael found it challenging to find support with some of the business fundamentals such as writing a business plan. Rachael was doing fantastic in her business but desired a sense of direction, by having a plan outlining all the intricate details, goals, Cash-flow…etc. We agreed to tackle these tasks together over Teams meetings scheduled each Monday for one hour during the afternoons. Rather than administering tasks, I found it to be more beneficial to work through these goals in collaboration. This may increase the duration but in exchange I believe our relationship is stronger as we overcome hurdles in unison.

Results:

FNTMP

  • Business Plan completed
  • Social Media management and upskilling
  • Time Management and Scheduling

WAITOC/ATWA

  • New logo developed/Marketing assets
  • Supplied Business Cards and flyers
  • Memberships with local CCI and relevant industry groups
  • Bookkeeping and finance support
  • Social Media campaign

In conclusion I am honoured to be paired with Rachael as the mentoring/mentee roles has at times been interchangeable. Rachael is a pleasure to work with, she possesses a plethora of knowledge and skills that is important to preserve and promote. I’m ecstatic to be part of her journey, she is truly a leader in her community and a positive role model for the younger generations.
