Robert Taylor

Robert, a Nhanda Yamaji man from Western Australia, has worked for over 10 years as Chief Executive Officer for WAITOC. He has transformed the organisation from a marketing body into a full business development engine for Aboriginal tourism, securing funding at local, state and federal government levels.

Chair

Darren 'Capes' Capewell

A proud descendant of the Nhanda and Malgana Peoples of Gutharraguda (Shark Bay) in the Yamaji region. Capes is owner and operator of Wula Gura Nyinda Eco Cultural Adventures and leads on-country eco cultural experiences as a Traditional Custodian and ambassador for his people and Country.

Operations Manager – ATWA

Julia Tolj

Julia Tolj is Operations Manager at Aboriginal Tourism Western Australia (ATWA), leading governance, operations, partnerships, compliance, and organisational development. With experience across tourism, training, business development, and stakeholder engagement, she has worked in coaching, accreditation, TAFE, and corporate leadership development. Having spent much of her childhood in Aboriginal communities across Arnhem Land and Kakadu, Julia is passionate about supporting Aboriginal-led tourism and creating opportunities that benefit communities across Western Australia.

Partnerships Manager

Natalie Ness

Raised in Wagin on the traditional lands of the Kaartdijin Noongar people, I have a strong connection to community, culture, and Country. With a background in tourism, stakeholder engagement, community development, and partnerships, I am passionate about building collaborations that support and grow Aboriginal tourism across Western Australia. I'm excited to be part of the WAITOC team and contribute to creating opportunities that celebrate culture and empower communities.
